This weekend we went to visit a friend in Shanghai. It was a 2 hour train ride on a bullet train, but to be perfectly honest I don't think it was very bullet-like; only 130km/hr. We saw both the old and new sections of Shanghai; it was interesting to see the past and the present built so closely together. Now a days Shanghai is a very metropolitan city. It has a real international feeling to it with many people from all around the world working there. The architecture is mind boggling as they are working hard to build sky scrappers that are tall and unique. We went to the top of The Pearl which was amazing. Unfortunately a typhoon was making it's way through the area so we had heavy rains and wind on the Saturday. Although we went to the top of The Pearl - 351 meters high! - the visibility was limited due to clouds and rain. We ate some amazing food, traveled the subway and saw many sites.
Our final week of teaching has been busy visiting classrooms in another school - we got to teach an English lesson to a group of grade 8 kids- and working hard to wrap things up with our group of teachers. We've also met with ministry officials and apparently the local news wants to interview us! SO nervous! The next few days will be full of reflection and visiting a few more sites with our teachers -- always practicing their English skills:)
It has been an amazing experience but I think I'm ready to come back to my little duckies:) Less than a week and we'll be together again. Get ready for some crazy stories!
