Well it's 5:30pm and we are back in our hotel room after a busy day. I wanted to take this time to share some photos from our visit to Lily-Abby's house last night. Her 14 year old son Michael, and 2 of his friends Nick and David came to pick us up at our hotel and walk us to Lily-Abby's house. Imagine me sending you to walk with 2 French teachers to your house! They were very polite, introduced themselves in English and shook our hands. Lily-Abby invited us to her house to teach us how to make dumplings and share some traditional Chinese dishes. Another teacher with her daughter, Vivien joined us as well. The red sausage is a specialty from Shanghai but both Mrs. Brajcich and I had a hard time with the texture. We ate quickly; one chew and swallowed so as not to offend our hosts. Lily-Abby had her son play classical guitar for us and Nick did some traditional calligraphy for us to take back and post in our room! Definitely a very special evening being invited into someone's home and having them share their family, lifestyle and culture -- the ultimate learning experience and one of the best parts of travelling abroad.
