Today we visited another public school in Deqing. We went to a calligraphy class where students are taught the ancient art of handwriting with brush and ink. We all dressed in traditional clothes from the Han dynasty (no the students are not wearing these clothes everyday). Next we went to observe an English class. It was neat to see that the same technology is being used but the students have much much more homework and practice than you do. I took a picture of one of their desks. All of those books are exercise books that they write in. They complete many many books per term. And --- they also have homework books to complete each night as well. We were quite popular with the students; they all wanted to come and say hello and have us sign our names to their books-- it was very sweet.
